Same for a panel. It breaks or has loose connects in 100 years and even if we do 100 re per watt and 1kw installation it takes 16 years to make a new panel. Seems like a positive feedback chain which would last for as long as silica and aluminum which should be 10000 years. Imagine someone said we will just make batteries which cost 400 re for 10 wh another one is not manufacturable from the previous. So it's a waste on humanitarian effort.  

You can keep track of sun with 6 am to 9 am reset and one hour forward and half back. Sunrise increases and decreases and you can find date. Do the moon and you can find months . You need this for watering fertilising etc.
